Minimum (essential) requirements 

  • Significant experience in a professional services environment, including demonstrable success in a project management or team leading role with 2+ years demonstrable success in an operational management role. 

  • Extensive experience of staff management and allocation in a professional services environment using a talent driven development model to develop the staff within the business while satisfying project requirements. 

  • Strong commercial awareness within a professional services environment with evidence of P&L management responsibilities 

  • Solid understanding of all operational aspects within a business including experience of revenue, staff and recruitment forecasting. 

  • Demonstrable experience of creating, managing and improving process including creation of KPI’s and workforce planning. 

  • Experience in managing and motivating team members and leading by example. 

  • Excellent communication skills including experience of formal presentations and interviewing. 

  • Track record of creating, managing and improving process. 

  • Deep understanding of roles across the business unit. 


Job Description 

  • Will have full operational responsibility for all, or a significant subset of, accounts within the BU 

  • Accountable for one or more operational processes within the BU such as revenue and staff forecasting, staff allocation, recruitment or profitability. 

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a workforce plan that allows the business to grow in line with the overall strategy 

  • Working closely with the BU Talent Partner and Capability Leads to develop the staff within the BU, ensuring that there are sufficient appropriately skilled permanent and contract staff available to meet current and forecasted demands from both the Delivery and Sales teams. 

  • Responsible for qualifying sales opportunities from an operational and staffing perspective. 

  • Manages compliance of the month end closure process for their allocated accounts as well as ensuring all operations managers across the BU are doing same for their accounts including completion of timesheets, review of revenue and costs, margin control and invoicing and debt collection 

  • Leading account reviews with the account leads comparing performance to agreed KPI’s raising appropriate queries and corrective actions to rectify issues where appropriate 

  • Continuous improvement and refinement of operational processes and communicating and presenting these processes to the BU and wider Kainos. 

  • Works with the BU COO providing input to the BU budgeting process and helps them ensure costs remain in line with the budget and overall scale of the business throughout the year 

  • Liaises with supporting Group Delivery functions and communicates the demands of the business, e.g. recruitment, people support, finance & travel department 

  • Shares and promotes operational and commercial best practice across the BU and wider Kainos.

  • Highly flexible, including a willingness to travel offsite including all Kainos offices as and when required.
